THE SPARK

What started Ofibera?

Our journey began in the shadow of the Cameron Peak Wildfires in Colorado. As the flames stopped just 10 miles from her home, our founder Curie had an epiphany: it was time to prioritize environmental sustainability. But where do you start?

THE CHALLENGE

The Unsustainable Cycle of Fast Fashion

Soon, the problem of increasing textile waste caught her eye. In seeking to change her own garment buying habits in 2021, Curie encountered a frustrating reality: no company offered clothing that was truly sustainable from creation to disposal. Either the fabrics weren't eco-friendly, or the responsibility for clothes recycling fell solely on the consumer.

Even when the consumer took their clothes to a reseller or recycler, the outcomes were disheartening. In fact, about 66% of discarded clothes in the U.S. are sent to landfills, and only 15% are recycled. Of those recycled, a significant portion is exported to other countries, where they often end up in landfills—contributing not only to environmental degradation, but also to serious health concerns in local communities exposed to pollution, toxins, and waste-related hazards.

OUR SOLUTION

What now?

As we searched for answers, one thing was clear: the world didn’t need another clothing brand that adds to the waste. It needed one that cares—about the well-being of people and the health of the planet.

So we got to work. Rethinking materials, reimagining end-of-life, and building every detail around the belief that better is possible—if you start at the beginning with the end in mind.

This is where better begins.

OUR SOLUTION

The world doesn't need another clothing brand that adds waste.

It needs brands that champion producer responsibility.

At Ofibera, every single garment is designed with its end in mind, following these 3 principles:

All things eventually return to the earth. So, we prioritize the end-of-life stage of our garments from the very beginning of the design process.
